Comex 2007 is not about technology anymore

Yesterday evening, I met up with a couple of friends to make a trip down to Suntec City where the mega “IT show” is on – I spent just an hour there, just to accompany a friend of mine to buy a Samsung 160GB harddisk + External 2.5″ casing for S$136. It was mega… and I mean MEGA – so big until there was a “human jam” on the way there!

I didn’t actually want to go, since I didn’t like to be in crowds and I had nothing specific to buy.

But anyway, I realised that these IT exhibitions like Comex are slowly becoming less about technology – while the majority of the booth are still about computer hardware, software and digital camera and stuff like that, I also see more booths for credit cards, insurance agencies, and magazines etc.

I also noted how many companies actually literally suck their potential customers there. As we all know, there are probably more males interested in IT than ladies. So what do they do? For those who are interested in IT, they have the great deals, and for those who have no idea what a computer is at all, they still have a reason to go – the showgirls!

No wonder its attracting the crowds!
