Help me lower the rate of blogger burnouts!

Happy BloggerWe all work really hard every day to research and publish the most wonderful articles for our readers, and I can already feel the satisfaction when your blog gets read, when you get comments, and when people start coming in and telling you “Thanks! Neat Stuff!” 🙂 I’m very inspired by the authors of some of the blogs I read everyday (see daily reads on my sidebar).

But, I think its undeniable that sometimes we get a “bad hair blog day” and then we BURN OUT! In fact, I think blogging burnout is a concern that is near and dear to every serious blogger, whether full time or part time… or all the time – like me, blogging at 4am in the morning!

Today, I’m gonna attempt to lower the rate of professional bloggers burning out, and I need your help!

Muahahahahahahaha!!!!! How do I do that?

ME “Liz” Strauss, the lady who started going around telling people that they are “SOBs”, talked about having fun working as a blogger. She says:

If you’re not having fun, you’re not doing it right.

Don’t you think its soooo true? You need to really be having real fun everyday doing what you do!

I’m also inspired by the Easton from BusinessBlogWire – his enthusiasm in blogging really shows in his very proactive initiatives like Blogtipping and the Fortune 500 Blog Project. *salute!* 8)

So I’m going to go ahead today and STEAL 😯 some of these two experts ideas and put them together! Don’t worry, they won’t be able to catch me… they will have to fly half way round the globe to do so! Neh-nee-neh-nee-bu-bu~~ 8)

Today, Blogopreneur.com also becomes the home for Humorous, Amusing, Playful, Professional and Yooooohooo!!-ly (HAPPY) Blogging!

(Obviously, I can’t find a word that fits that start with the letter ‘Y’ Let me know if you have a suggestion)

You see, as a trainer, I’ve learnt along the way that there is a child in every one of us. I don’t care whether you are a 12 year old or an 80 year old blogger – I know that there is that little child inside you that is all full of funny ideas, and the thing I’ve realised is that in blogging, your “personal voice” really comes out when you let this child talk! Let go of the funny stuff within you, and share it with the blogosphere! This entertains your readers and keeps them coming back!

So, how does HAPPY Blogging work?

First, I’ll steal Easton’s idea in introducing a tag to facilitate tracking!

Everytime you make post with something you think would really entertain your audience and make them grin, tag it with “HAPPY Blogging”! This makes it easy for us to keep track of all the funny and happy posts by in Technorati. Your post should still do what its supposed to do – whether you’re talking about apples or zebras – you still need to keep your to your topic. But well.. you can post fully jokey content too like the one Easton has just done as he was testing Performancing for Firefox.

Secondly, I’ll steal Liz’s idea in certification!

When you are confident of entertaining your audience with humor, and have at least 5 “HAPPY Blogging” posts, let me know by dropping me a mail! I’ll scrutinize your posts and try not to grin while doing that. If I fail and have that slightest smirk on my face, guess what? You are a certified HAPPY Blogger! Wheeeee!!! (Nah, I’m really really bad in holding my laughter.)

Anyway, I’ll create a hall of fame fun for all HAPPY Bloggers, and I’ll list your blog there, so people will know where to go to on the verge of blogger burnout before they start pulling their hair and end up with Professor X’s hairstyle, and so that they can laugh their day (and stress) off. Laughter is the best medicine right?

I’ll also go create a nice logo soon so you can stick it to your post or sidebar.

Now go spread the word around! Ask people to loosen up a ‘lil in their post! Don’t just be a blogger, be a HAPPY blogger!

  1. wow that’s sounds stressful,

lucky for me, I blog about the things that I like and at the same time I review others products (those who need free publication), so the word “thank you” or “can your review mine too?” is just enough for me =)
