Thank you, now buy more.
Have you ever bought more than what you originally planned to buy, and spent more than what you originally wanted to spend? One very powerful technique that marketers and sales people use is upselling - offering a customer to upgrade his purchase!
A few days ago over on Derek Gehl’s blog, he shared that one of the best times to upsell a product is when they have already bought something from you- right at the thank you page!
He shares:
Well, by the time a customer sees your thank-you page, they’ve already made the decision to trust you enough to buy something from you… so encouraging them to make a second purchase is a relatively easy sell.
I think it is so powerful, especially when you present a “one time offer package” - it really reminds me of what I experience at MacDonalds.
Many times, we would approach the counter at MacDonalds wanting to just buy a Big Mac, but at the time of purchase, if the counter staff were to just offer for the extra value meal, you will almost instantly think “Hey, why not add just over a dollar, and you can get a regular fries and a drink with your meal?”
And there goes your dollar
