Inspirational advice by the marketing guru Jay Abraham
During the closing session at the World Internet Summit, I was very inspired by what Jay Abraham said about the perspective in which people are taking in Internet marketing.
He said that if we are serious about Internet marketing, we must take it as a “Business”, not a “Promotion”.
There is a key difference between a business and promotion.
A promotion is something which you do and if you get it right, you hit it, and if you don’t you forget about it. A business is one which you adopt strategies, plans and keep going again and again and again… until you get it right.
Its inspirational.
I now realise why it took me so long to get started… and why it is 10 times harder to get something started on a part time basis, than to commit full time on it, even though the relative amount of time spent is just at a maximum 3 times more.
Are you treating what you are doing now as a business or a promotion? Is it something which you have adopted the perspective of “I must succeed”, or “If it works I will succeed”? Is that perspective affecting your ultimate results?
Think about it.

I saw Jay Abraham when I was twenty-three at a conference in LA. At that time, the internet was just getting started but I will tell you, that he was just as thought provoking.
I like the dichotomy of business vs. promotion, as it make sense. And knowing that there are only three ways to grow a business. (get more customers, get customers to buy more often, charge more), one must determine the product or services and resources to implement the tactics that can produce the three variables above.
The questions is, which product or service!!!

Hahah… Robin. From the DVDs I’ve bought from the IMC (MarketingTips.com), what they recommended is to do the market research first - i.e. to use keyword research tools like WordTracker. And of course, for full automation, its best to sell information products.
However, I haven’t got down to doing it - sad to say, I’m afraid that I will lose my investment. I know the steps, but I am just not confident of my own judgement in terms of market research.
So here I am, blogging along. But its good - I love blogging! Except it won’t make me millions yet.
