Blogspot is down!

Yes! As of NOW (09:27hrs GMT +8), all blogspot blogs are DOWN!

Surf on to ANY Blogspot page and you get the same message! Man… how many heads are going to roll because of this? Imagine all the blogs making money from traffic by the minute… they are going to lose all their clicks and all their ad revenue and stuff!

That reminds us of two things to note when you are into blogging or Internet Marketing.

1. Use your own server and make sure its a reliable service! Pay for it if you need to, scrimping and saving will get you nowhere!
2. Make sure you have a means to backup your data in your website, whether its FTPing to your local drive, or doing a database backup - make sure that you can see your data in your local drive, no matter what! Imagine having to rebuild you site all over again. The latest version of WordPress comes with a database backup plug-in. Find out more about backing up your database at the WordPress codex. *Pity those Blogspot bloggers* Let’s hope Blogspot recovers soon.

Update: Apparently, I’ve learnt in DigitialPoint forums that they have announced it before they took it down for maintenance… so well… Maybe not so many heads are going to roll afterall. But still… shouldn’t they redirect the traffic to a friendlier page saying something like “down for maintenance”? Bloggers are gonna be losing money today.

Update 2: Alright, its 11:29hrs and from here (Singapore) things are back up again. Great… bloggers can keep blogging now.
