Are you a tabber?
Haha! I was checking out the nice new features that bundled with IE7… no… I’m not talking about the Bloglines plugin that make your browser an RSS reader - I’m talking about the ‘lil Quick Tabs feature beside all the tabs.
Fancy the features your Mac friends have when they hit a key on their keyboard? Now you can do it (well, albeit not as nice), in your IE7! Just hit Ctrl-Q!
This is what you get!

Doing it in Firefox
The moment I saw that feature in IE, I surfed on to the Firefox extensions page (somehow I still prefer Firefox) and looked for plug-in that does the same thing in Firefox… and I found it! Firefox Showcase!
This is what it looks like. It in fact allows you to showcase the tabs across different windows of Firefox. Wonderful!

This is what I see daily!
And I love it, because I’m a very heavy “tabber”.
Remember I was telling you about my daily reads and I’ll be surfing on them every day? Yeah - this is how I do it: Just ctrl-click on each of the links in my daily read (Ctrl-Click in Firefox opens the link in a new tab)… just keep clicking until you get to the bottom of the list!
When you are done, you will see one tab open for each of the links! Next, I’ll save all the tabs into one folder in my favourites! Everyday, what I do is just go to that folder and “Open in Tabs!”
This in fact is particularly useful if you are surfing halfway and you need to reboot your computer after installing a piece of software, or after changing your Firefox theme, or for me - reading information from many sources so that you can craft your next blog post.
I love it because it doesn’t clutter the window taskbar!
Nice huh?
Unfortunately, it seems like IE doesn’t have the “Open in tabs” thing. Let me know if I’m wrong. Maybe in their next release they will. It doesn’t make good sense to be able to save a tab group into your favorites but have to open them one by one manually, right?
So, how heavy a tabber are you? ![]()
