Using Blogs for Coaching

Blog CoachingActually I’ve always thought that blogs are a great way to do coaching. The chonological structure of the blog is perfect for e-training! Just imagine a sequence of videos being rolled out for a 10 day program, with feedback and clarification done via blog comments – wonderful idea isn’t it?

I was in fact thinking of researching on this topic for my final year research project! There you have it, Coachamatic. Here is what is being reported in the Press Release:

Coachamatic is a newly launched dynamic group blog authored by a global assortment of 30 lifestyle and business coaches who have turned to blogging as a way of strengthening the coaching community and exposing the profession to a wider mainstream audience. Coaches on Coachamatic are blogging on topics such as productivity, marketing, small business development, coach training, public speaking, work/life balance, health and wellness, leadership, parenting, money, and conflict management

The man behind coachamatic is Andy Wibbels – the author of Blogwild!: A Guide for Small Business Blogging.

Do check out the site, its pretty interesting, especially for “self help junkies” like me. For example, the current post talks about how to get over yourself – teaching you how to get away from “condemning” yourself with all the “I’m-ing”… like “I’m too fat” or “I’m shy, temperamental, nervous, afraid…”

One point I think the writers could practise to improve on, however, is to get some subheadings in those articles, or have more space between the paragraphs, and this applies to everyone out there blogging as well. People tend to scan text online, they don’t read in detail, so help your readers focus on what they should focus on, by emphasising the words using italics or bold. (Is this part of Web 2.0? )

What are your thoughts on using blogs for education and coaching?
