Have you ever wanted to integrate a forum with your blog? From the creators of WordPress, you have bbPress 0.72!
Actually, bbPress has been around since some time. The software came about because the creators of WordPress were originally using another forum software – miniBB – and they found it getting slow with the PHP upgrades. So the authors wrote a whole board by itself!
So actually, I’m awfully slow.
Here’s what you get when you surf on to the bbPress site:
bbPress is focused on web standards, ease of use, ease of integration, and speed. We’re focused on keeping things as small and light as possible while still allowing for great add on features through our extensive plugin system.
I’ve yet to give it a go and play around with it, but you bet I will! I remember once, I built a WordPress blog and I had to link the SMF forum – it was not really a hassle, but it just doesn’t look “together”.
When I give bbPress a go one of these free days, I’ll update you peeps again what it entails.
A forum is one of the best ways to make your site “sticky”, when people post questions, they want to know the answers! When people post answers, they want to know if their answer do help people!… and tada! There you have it, a sticky site.
Of course, the key to setting up a forum is the community, a forum is one with network effects – the more active members there are, the more valuable it is.
